Although no date has been given for when Herberger's will close its Alexandria store, the filing stated that all stores will close by August 31, and the company expects the liquidation process to begin shortly in all stores.

A joint venture composed of the holders of Bon-Ton Stores' 8.0% Second Lien Secured Notes due 2021 and Great American Group, and Tiger Capital Group, will acquire the inventory and certain other assets of the company.

The Bon-Ton Stores has a strong presence in Wisconsin, where it operates nine stores and employs 2,255 people who will lose their jobs.

It unknown how soon these stores will close or the amount of jobs lost.

The Marshfield Younkers location inside Marshfield Mall is one of the stores to fall victim, as the Bon-Ton chain enters liquidation.

The Company's stores, e-commerce and mobile platforms are open and serving customers.

Bon-Ton filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February, but was unable to find a buyer willing to continue operating the business.

While a manager for the Champaign store at Market Place Mall declined to comment, as did Market Place, the location was listed in court documents among Bon-Ton's more than 250 stores that liquidators plan to close. If the stores close, it would impact almost 300 local workers. It continued operation as it entered the bankruptcy process, though it did announce the closing of 47 stores at that time.

The sales will be both in-store and online.

Meanwhile, since numerous stores are in malls, it will leave mall operators scrambling to find a new tenant - which may or may not be retail.
