City target record books after winning EPL title

City fans will be hoping that Guardiola doesn't fancy stopping at anytime soon or that Jose Mourinho does what he did at Real and find a way to stop his adversary. "That has happened. We have to try to focus on our games".

"The feeling amongst the squad is great". Guardiola might also want a left back to act as back-up to Benjamin Mendy, who has been injured for most of this season, and/or a left-sided attacker as an alternative to Leroy Sane.

English football in a traditional sense, has been all about stamina, strength, aerial presence and the old cliche of "winning the second-ball" in midfield. "Having such a young squad will hopefully help us to achieve that".

Thierry Henry, for Arsenal in 2002-03, is the only player to reach 20 assists in a Premier League season.

It marked the 23rd trophy for Guardiola's impressive CV and his second for the campaign after the Carabao Cup, dispelling any doubts over his managerial capabilities and tactical style in England after a trophyless debut campaign at the Etihad last season.

"It is one of the first things I noticed within the first month", he said.

Pep Guardiola has never managed a club longer than four years, so another two seasons would match the time he spent in charge at Barcelona. We have developed together and there is a lot of potential.

"What we want to do now is continue playing the way we have this season and become even stronger".

A serial victor as a manager with Barcelona and Bayern, Guardiola ended his first year in England at City without silverware - his only failure to win a trophy since his managerial career started back in 2007.

City went on a sensational 18 game winning run earlier in the season to effectively have the EPL crown wrapped up by Christmas.

United had to at least draw to keep the title race mathematically alive but they were stunned at Old Trafford when Jay Rodriguez headed home after the break. It is nearly unlikely that top talents like Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson Moraes, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero would have been playing for the Citizens.

"Of course, that's the next step for us", he said.

"Maybe we haven't gone as far as we would have liked, but there have been performances along the way that show we could do something special in the future". I want to see how we react now next season. The Champions League is a knockout competition, it's the biggest competition in Europe, but it's tough to win.
