Gaal Ni Kadni singer Parmish Verma was shot by an unidentified man on Saturday morning in Mohali, Punjab. Although Verma and his friend were injured in this attack, they managed to speed away from the spot.

Sources said both of them were rushed to Fortis Hospital in Phase 8, where they were now undergoing treatment. In a statement, a top Mohali police official said that the assailants had arrived in a white Toyota Fortuner SUV.

Punjabi singer Parmish Verma has been injured in a shooting incident by unidentified men. The singer, who shot to fame with his song "Gaal Nee Kadhnai", was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali with a bullet injury. The singer, who is out of danger now, was shot in his knee near Sector 91, Mohali, by unidentified people who followed his vehicle till the highway even after firing at him.

Apart from Dilpreet Singh Dhahan, members of the Sampat Nehra gang have also claimed responsibility for the attack, according to news agency IANS. The gangster also said that Verma was "lucky to be alive". He updated his Facebook status with a picture of himself holding a gun and a cross against Verma's face.

Until now, the post has received 1.6K likes and has been shared 747 times. Police said a case under relevant sections of the IPC, including attempt to murder, and provisions of the Arms Act has been registered.

The gangster's motive to claim responsibility for the shooting was unclear.

Dhahan is the main accused in the murder of a sarpanch from Hoshiarpur's Khurd village who was killed outside a gurdwara in Chandigarh a year ago. It was also not clear why Mr Verma was attacked either.
