Guardiola Confirms Major Blow As 3 Players Miss Tottenham Trip

City's Aguero on mend after knee surgery

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed Sergio Aguero is sidelined with a knee injury and raised doubts if the Argentine worldwide will be ready for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation.

Aguero has not always started City's biggest games though and only manager 24 minutes off the bench against Liverpool this week in a tie the Blues were chasing from the off.

At a press conference, the 47-year-old told reporters: "After action from Ashley Young, he could not train". "What I say to the players, and what they show, every game, it that it is not done".

In a double blow, John Stones is also still unavailable due to an on-going adductor injury while Fernandinho is suspended after picking up his tenth booking of the season last week.

The Argentinean worldwide then made another appearance from the bench during City's Champions League defeat to Liverpool in midweek, despite being unable to train following the United game. "You can win the Champions League by playing a good seven games but not the league".

"Results are good. We need to think about the strong points of Tottenham, try to win the game".

Barring a scenario in which City record five losses and a draw while one of Liverpool or Spurs wins all six of their remaining matches by huge scorelines, that leaves us with one semi-realistic contender.

Pep Guardiola has stated that City must return to who they were earlier in the season in order to bounce back. Now 13 points clear at the top of the table with six games to go, Guardiola is nearly certain to add his first Premier League title to the League Cup for this season's trophy haul.

"They are magnificent players and I'm sad - we all are sad - because we are out of the Champions League, but I have to judge the way we did it".

The Argentine was on target in City's last win away to Spurs at White Hart Lane in May 2015, but since then City have lost their last two visits away to Spurs, conceding six goals.

They were trying to overturn a three-goal first-leg deficit and were level at 1-1 in the return game when the striker was introduced, but lost 2-1.

"We are 13 points ahead plus goal difference and we deserve to be there". "We can not forget he was one month injured".
